Myrtle Creek’s Better Living Center Finished

A new improved Better Living Center has been a dream of the last five pastors but plans were not given much consideration until about twelve years ago. George Walker, a local member, had taken the time to put changes on paper and the church adopted the plan.

As the idea started to move forward the funds started to flow. The church agreed that we would try to avoid debt but also that we did not want a partially completed building that would be an eyesore to our neighbors. On August 15, 2006 when we had $100,000 in hand Pastor Disney secured the building permit. WE started the project by demolishing the restrooms, and staking out the new structure. Phase one’s goal was to have the exterior of the building complete.

The project moved slowly but cash seems to keep up with the demand. The Lord provided some special gifts to assist in the project and the project moved forward until we started to occupy before having the final permit. One of the obstacles to having the final occupancy permit was to fulfill the requirement of the city of Myrtle Creek to pave our parking lot. It seemed like a big challenge but again the Lord opened some doors with financing to make that a reality.

We still have some dreams for improvements but on May 11, Pastor Fenton cut the ribbon assisted by Mayor Jocoy and Pastor Disney as our congregation enjoyed a day of celebration. We look forward to being able to have outreach projects in the new safer facility.
