WEAR — Lawrence "Chief" Gene, 88; born March 5, 1929, Loma Linda Sanitarium and Hospital, Loma Linda, Calif.; died Feb. 12, 2018, Coquille, Ore. Surviving: devoted wife of 58 years, Lulu (Norris); son, Larry "Bear" Jr., Coquille; daughters, Janet Gillespie, Tumacacori, Ariz.; Cindy Blansett, Veneta, Ore.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Bonnie Wear, Covina, Calif.; Douglas and Elisabeth Wear, Takoma Park, Md.; 6 grandchildren, Savannah Pinney, Lucian Blansett, William Blansett, Joseph Blansett, Bridgett Blansett and Cecillia Blansett; and 2 great-grandchildren, Aribella Pinney and Addison Blansett.

Chief was best known for his knowledge of the Bible and Ellen White. Donations should be made to the Bear Cupboard Food Pantry at PO Box 381, Coquille, OR 97423.
