Can't wait until the Cat in the Hat comes back? Or maybe you want to go on a Bear Hunt? Well, all this and more have been the themes of Storytime at Three Sisters Adventist Christian School in Bend, Ore.
Bimonthly storytime sessions on Fridays for 4- to 6-year-olds have been a wonderful way for community kids and church families to get acquainted with Three Sisters teachers and students at school. Under the direction of Sheila Armstead, each storytime is planned around a specific theme and children's book to engage young children in the joy of learning. At Easter, a special book about Jesus was shared and the kids made a beautiful sunset painting of Calvary to share with their families.
Just before Mother's Day, prekindergarten and kindergarten guests were treated to the delightful story about the perfect "gift" for mom and then planted flowers and made a special card to take home for their moms.
Where is a House for Hermit Crab? This theme brought to life the beauty and wonder of our ocean animals for the kids to experience.
These storytimes are designed to help each child and parent get a feel for the classroom setting, become familiar with a group of friends and begin to develop relationships with the teachers at Three Sisters Adventist Christian School. Storytime has been one way Three Sisters Adventist Christian School has been modeling our mission statement to "awaken a love for God, a desire for learning and service to others."
