Rogers Students Perform Bible Plays

By Audrey Campbell, Audrey Campbell, Agosto 22, 2016

Tonya Wessman’s students at Rogers Adventist School in College Place, Wash., perform Bible plays at the local constituent churches each school year. The students practice faithfully for a few weeks before their performance and often give practice performances at school assemblies for the students. Each play is a Bible story that is narrated and acted by her first and second graders.

Most of the costumes are provided by Lois Barrett, who taught Sabbath School for many years and has a large collection of costumes and props from her years of teaching.

Wessman involves the children in performing these plays because when they act out the Bible story, it becomes real to them and stays in their hearts. She talks about the meaning of the story each day and the children have a lasting understanding. The parents are very supportive of these plays and are helpful with rehearsals, costuming and faithfully bringing their kids to every performance.
