Michael has attended Mid-Columbia Adventist Christian School for the past 10 years. MACS is a 10-grade school nestled in the small town of Hood River, Ore.
Michael has many fond memories throughout these 10 years, starting with the Kindergarten class in Elaina Mathisen's room. There has always been alot of extra curricular activities besides a textbook followed by a test. This included special outreach to the community, visiting historical and educational places. the Hood River Care Center, and much more.
But what Michael would like to share is the experience he had with his class, planned by Peter Hardy, principal. This is what he writes.
"This year my high school class at MACS went to Washington, D.C., for our class trip. We flew there and stayed with our teacher's brother and sister. We were there for a week and it was a blast. It was really exciting visiting all of our Nation's historical sites. We got to visit places like Gettysburg, the Washington Monument, Williamsburg, our nation's Capitol building, and we even got to see the White House from a distance.
The trip was an amazing opportunity for the seven of us, and I know we all are very thankful to our teacher and his family for letting us do this.
We earned the money to go by doing our school's janitorial work, cleaning bathrooms, vacuming the rooms, and taking out the trash. It was well worth the work because it was an amazing time. We all learned so much about our country. I know I will always remember this trip and the experience of going across country to spend a week with some of my closest friends."
Now students who graduated from Bobbie DeWebber's eighth-grade class this past June are excited about being in the ninth grade with Peter Hardy for the 2010–2011 school year.
