Medford Reflections

The Medford Church started off on a sad note as we bade farewell to our John and Amy Wiltenburg, associate pastor and wife, as their family relocated to Tennessee.

In the spring, we mourned for three people. Two beloved, retired pastors died: Bruce Johnston and Paul Gordon. And Eugene (Gene) Burrill, entrepreneur and philanthropist, died.

Floyd Bresee, after many attempts to retire, finally succeeded with a move to Santa Rosa, Calif., with wife, Dephena.

Mission trips were accomplished with our, Randy Hill, youth pastor, taking our youth from Rogue Valley Adventist School to Holbrook Adventist Indian School in Holbrook, Ariz. Dan McCulloch, senior pastor went to Mozambique and Peru. Bruce Fjarli went with Maranatha to India.

We welcomed a new principal for RVAS. He is Larry Aldred and wife, Sue. Our school earned its six-year accreditation for K- through 12- grades; from both the church and the State of Oregon.

Sixtieth wedding anniversaries were celebrated by Merlin and Joan Fjarli; Keith and Nelda Bristlin; "Blondie" and Doreen Rohlf; and Clarence and Betty Hayward.

George Yost celebrated his 90th birthday; Ethel May Junghans celebrated her 101st.

Vacation Bible School was well attended and happily successful under the direction of Winnie Moses.

The seminar Love and Respect was so well attended, it was repeated. The Financial Peace seminar will also be repeated in 2010.

Dan McCulloch's favorite place in the church — the baptistery — saw nine adults and 10 children surrender their lives to Jesus.

We ended our year with three really fun open houses, a joyous concert given by our sister church, Valley View, and our own "The Other Wise Man."

We praise our loving Lord for blessing us so abundantly this past year and eagerly look forward to His coming.
