Surviving: wife, Donna (Todhunter) Sheets, Portland; sons, Brian Cavanaugh, Cloverdale, Ore.; Kerry Cavanaugh, Battle Ground, Wash.; stepsons, Kent Sheets, Gresham, Ore.; Jeffrey Sheets, San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Shelagh Cavanaugh, Oregon City, Ore.; stepdaughters, Jenny Severance, Scappoose, Ore.; Sharon (Sheets) Vieregg, Lake Oswego, Ore.; Kim (Sheets) Sargent, Aloha, Ore.; many grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
James “Jim” L. Cavanaugh died on Aug. 5, 2014, at the age of 75. Jim was born on April 27, 1939, in Portland, Ore., to William and Wilma (Wight) Cavanaugh.
Jim graduated from Portland Union Academy (now Portland Adventist Academy) in 1956. He graduated from Portland State University with his BA degree.
In 1994, Jim married Donna Todhunter in Portland.
Jim was a member of Hood View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boring, Ore. He was involved with the interfaith group of greater Portland.
Jim enjoyed hiking, mountain climbing, playing his trombone and viola, and singing in the Adventist Men’s Chorus. He enjoyed his travels with musical groups to Germany, Scandinavia and Romania.
