PETERSON — Rulene Elizabeth (Karr) Guth, 91; born Dec. 5, 1925, Madison, Wis.; died Sept. 10, 2017, Milwaukie, Ore. Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barb (Hooper) Guth, College Place, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth (Guth) and Gary Sheidler, Medical Lake, Wash.; Gail (Guth) and Bob Horton, Gladstone, Ore.; Carol (Guth) and Marlin Davidson, Portland, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Guth) and Richard Hathaway, Sutherlin, Ore.; Dorthy (Hayes) Guth, The Dalles, Ore.; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
I added Bev and Dot because they are the only living relatives in Mom's generation and they were quite close to her.
Rulene was the oldest of two children both girls, born to Moses and Alice Peterson Karr
Ronald and Rulene were married July 1,1956 in the Green Bay Church.
The Guth Family did a lot of traveling, visiting 38 states and Canada, spending one week every year in Oneita, Wis., visiting Rulene's parents. The family along with the extended family enjoyed camping and boating. Rulene went to grade school in Trout Creek, Wis., academy at Bethel Academy, college at Emanuel Missionary College, and graduated with a teaching degree from Portland State College with her teaching degree. When she was just a child the family moved to Chamberlin, S.D., for a few years then then to the homestead in Oneita, Wis. Her pets always had a special place in her heart and she had many over the years
She was a life long Adventist, baptized in 1940, a long time member of the Green Bay Church. She brought her family up in The Dalles, Ore., were she taught school and drove to Portland in the evenings to finish her teaching degree. Her final membership is at the Gladstone Park Church, were she volunteered at the Adventist Community Services center.
She was preceded in death by her parents Moses and Alice Karr, her sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle Culp (the only sibling) and Hillman Culp; both her husbands Ronald Guth and Norman Peterson; two brothers-in-law, James Guth and Lynn Fahlgren, and one sister-in-law, Debra Kay Guth Fahlgren; and two nieces, Cynthia Kay Guth Parle and Carolyn Culp Miller.
